The Brown Judaic Studies Visiting Scholar in 2015 is Thomas C. Römer, Professor at the Collège de France (Paris) and the Université de Lausanne. Römer is the author of many influential books and articles on the Hebrew Bible and the world out of which it emerged. He has been a visiting professor in Montpellier, Neuchâtel, Zürich, Pretoria and Managua, and Sackler Scholar at the University of Tel Aviv, among other honors. He will present a public lecture on Tuesday, Feb. 10 at 5:30 PM, at Brown RISD Hillel at 80 Brown Street, Meeting Room, entitled “Yhwh, a God of the Wilderness: A Biblical and Extrabiblical Investigation.”
