The Program in Judaic Studies awards the Celia & Carl Michaelson Essay Prize to the best academic essay written by a current Brown University undergraduate (regardless of concentration) on any topic relating to Jews and Judaism.
Papers that use inter disciplinary approaches are especially encouraged. Submissions can include (but are not limited to) a paper used in a course (revised or not), original research, or a thesis chapter that can stand on its own. Submissions should be a maximum of 7,000 words, including all notes and bibliography. Only one submission per student is allowed.
While this award is bestowed at the end of the spring semester, we accept submissions during the entire academic year. This award is advertised in Today@Brown and as a News item on this site. Submit one pdf document, which includes your name on every numbered page, to Judaic@brown.edu. The monetary award is paid directly to the winner.
